Apple yesterday issued a recall for the USB power adapter that was included with the iPhone 3G sold in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Peru. The adapters sold in other countries should be fine.
A problem with the adapter could result in a metal prong breaking off and remaining in power outlets.
Replacement adapters won’t be available until October 10th and the new ones will contain a green dot to help tell them apart from the originals. Users needing a replacement can order one here or just drop by ann Apple retail store on or after October 10th.
