Sony comments on PSP-3000 battery life, will be same as current model
After Sony talked with Gamespot about the upcoming PSP-3000 and its brighter screen, word quickly spread across the Internet that the battery life would be noticeably worse than that of the current PSP-2000 model and that users would have to use an new extended life battery to get the same life as the PSP-2000 with a standard battery.
In a new post at PlayStation.Blog, Sony’s directory of hardware marketing John Koller attempts to set the record straight.
According to Koller, the PSP-3000 will have the same battery life as the PSP-2000. Yes, the new, brighter screen does draw more power, but Sony’s engineers have worked to reduce the power consumption of other components within the system.
On a full charge, the PSP-3000 should get 4 – 6 hours of gameplay time or about 4 – 5 hours of watching UMD videos.
