iPhone 3G cases cracking?

According to some owners of the new iPhone 3G, small cracks are beginning to appear around the edge of the devices, typically near the headphone jack, ringer switch, and volume control.

It would be easy to say that those getting cracks are just not caking care of the iPhones very well but that doesn’t seem to be the case as even some people who baby their iPhone’s are reporting cracks.

It seems that it may be occurring more often on white iPhone 3G’s but it could also just be that the black cases are simply hiding the cracks better.

Apple hasn’t officially said anything about defects so while many people with this problem seem to be getting replacement iPhone’s without much hassle, some are being turned down because it’s a cosmetic and not a technical problem so your milage may vary.
