Metal Gear Solid 4 dominates the video game sales charts for June
Metal Gear Solid fans anxious to hear how well the latest in the series, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, is selling will be pleased to hear that for the month of June it blew everything else away.
According to sales figures from NPD, MGS4 sold 774,600 copies in June. For some perspective, that’s almost as many as the sales figure for the number two title (Guitar Hero On Tour for the Nintendo DS) and the number three title (Ninja Gaiden II for the Xbox 360) combined.
That figure of 774,600 is for the individual software and does not include any numbers for bundles that include the game.
For a little more perspective, as big as that figure is (and it really is a big score for Sony) it’s still way below the numbers for Halo 2 and Halo 3 which each sold more than 2 million copies on the first day they were released.
