Big DSLR announcement on July 1st? [UPDATED]

generic_dslr.jpg

According to Jacobs Digital Photo and Video, “there will be a big surprise on the 1st July 2008, a major supplier will be announcing a brand new SLR.”

If we accept for a moment that this is 100% true, it’s probably going to be one of these:

  • Nikon D700
  • Nikon D3x
  • Canon 5D Mark II

We’ll find out for sure a week from Tuesday.

UPDATE: Mystery solved–looks like it was the Nikon D700. For more info about the D700 check out this post.

  2. Hi, Nikon D700 news is all over the place. But from what I understand, the model (dont know if it will be called the D700 yet) is not commercially ready yet. At least not for another 6 months. Although the buzz in the market seems to say otherwise.

    Cheers!

  3. Might also be a putative Canon 50D. Recently, they released a ~12 MP model underneath the 10 MP 40D, with a lot of the 40D’s amenities.

I’d buy a 50D in a heartbeat if they raised the usable ISO… hopefully reduced the noise as well.
