Philips announces X800 and X-Connect touchscreen phones
There’s been a rumor floating around about Philips getting into the touchscreen cell phone business and yesterday they confirmed it when they announced the X800 and Xenium X-Connect.
Features of the X800 include:
- Tri-band GSM/GPRS
- 2.9-inch 262K color TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 240 x 400.
- 2 megapixel auto focus camera
- microSD memory card slot
- Handwriting recognition
I assume that also means that the X800 will use a stylus, but no official word on that yet as best I can tell.
Features of the higher-end Xenium X-Connect will include:
- Running Windows Mobile 6 operating system
- 3-inch display
- GPRS/UMTS/HSDPA support
Not much else is known about the Xenium X-Connect yet except that it does NOT support Wi-Fi which surprised me a bit.
No pricing or release info yet.
