BlackBerry Thunder touchscreen coming to Verizon [UPDATED]

blackberry_logo.jpg

RIM has been hard at work on their first touchscreen phone, the BackBerry Thunder (sometimes called the 9500, other times the Storm).

The Thunder will be coming to Verizon first and support GSM HSPA, but not much more is known about the phone at this point.

It will be interesting to see what BlackBerry’s corporate users will think of the Thunder since it’s not a slider, it just doesn’t have a keyboard.

Will the Thunder be able to pull some iPhone users away from AT&T? I doubt it but anything is possible.

Something interesting about Verizon’s exclusivity is that if Verizon doesn’t meet a quota the Thunder will make its way to other carriers.

The Thunder is still a ways off so don’t expect to see pricing soon but hopefully we’ll get a few more details over the next few months.

UPDATE: Looks like there’s some discrepancy with the name.  Apparently it’s called the Storm , not the Thunder.  Check out this post for more info.
