Sprint set to announce $12 billion WiMAX deal?

the_money_pitAccording to a story over at The Wall Street Journal, Sprint is getting ready to announce a $12 billion WiMAX deal with Sprint merging its XOHM wireless broadband division with Clearwire, then taking $3.2 billion in investments from several other companies to build up WiMAX.

The companies reportedly ready to contribute are:

  • Comcast for $1.05 billion
  • Intel for $1 billion
  • Time Warner Cable for $550 million
  • Google for $500 million
  • Bright House for $100 million
