Sun to layoff up to 2,500

According a to a story at WSJ, Sun has posted a loss of $34 million for their third quarter and will be forced to reduce its workforce by up to 2,500 jobs.

Believe it or not that represents just over 7.26 percent of their entire workforce which means their workforce is way more than I thought it was at this point.

The reasons cited are the sluggish US economy which accounts for 40% of their revenue.

Despite the news, Sun CFO Michael Lehman expects the company to be profitable in its fourth quarter, minus the effects of their recent MySQL acquisition.
