Windows XP SP3 coming April 29th
Microsoft has announced that Windows XP SP3 has been released to manufacturing and will be available for download on April 29th.
Microsoft says that they are not adding significant Windows Vista functionality to XP but they are including a new Network Access Protection (NAP) to “help organizations that use Windows XP to take advantage of new features in the Windows Server 2008 operating system.”
Also in SP3 are improvements to black hole router detection (detecting routers that are silently dropping packets) as well as more descriptive text in the Security Options control panel to help explain things better.
SP3 will NOT include Internet Explorer 7, so if you’ve been reluctant to switch SP3 won’t force you to.
