Atom-based Asus Eee PC to be announced in June?
We all know that a version of the Asus Eee PC that uses Intel’s upcoming Atom chip is coming, just don’t know when. Could it be June?
According to Techradar, an Asus representative in the UK believes that an Atom-based Eee PC will be unveiled at Computex in June and ship shortly thereafter.
June is when the Atom chip is expected to launch, so there is a good chance this is true.
What is the Atom?
Intel’s upcoming Atom will be their smallest chip using the worlds smallest transistors, with 47 million transistors squeezed into a 25mm² chip.
The Atom will also be Intel’s lowest power processor, so it should allow for the Eee PC to have a much better battery life than the 1.5 hours of the current 8.9-inch model.
