Video service, in-game access to XMB, PlayStation cards coming in 2008
In a new Inside PLAYSTATION Network blog post Sony Senior Vice President Peter Dilled remind us that 2008 is “the year of PlayStation 3” and talked about three things we can expect to see this year.
- A new video service that will allow you to download full TV shows and movies via the PlayStation Store for North American PS3 owners, saying the “ultimately the goal of the PLAYSTATION Network service will be to break through the overwhelming clutter of digital media to give you the TV, movies and gaming content you want.”
- In-game access to XMB (Cross Media Bar) features (presumably for things like chat and seeing messages or game invites without having to exit the game you are in).
- PlayStation Cards in $20 and $50 values. These will be like iTunes Cards that can be gifted or purchased and used by people who don’t have a credit card that want to buy something from the PlayStation Store.
