Hybrids too quiet, new law would enforce minimum sound levels
New legislation is expected to be introduced soon that would require car makers meet a minimum sound level.
At first it may sound a bit silly, but hybrids are so quiet when running on just battery power that they are literally able to sneak-up on people creating a safety concern.
New York representative Edolphus Towns says “this bill will prevent many injuries and fatalities while still allowing more clean vehicles on our nation’s roads.”
If the bill is passed it would give automakers two years to comply.
