Yahoo signs agreement with Google, will use AdSense in search results
After spending years battling Google over online advertising dollars, Yahoo announced that it will begin a limited test in which 3 percent of search results will display ads from Google’s AdSense service.
The test, which is expected to last for no more than two weeks, could potentially be a sign of something bigger.
Microsoft, knowing a thing or two about monopolies, objects to the move.
Brad Smith, Microsoft’s general counsel, said “any definitive agreement between Yahoo and Google would consolidate over 90 percent of the search advertising market in Google’s hands…This would make the market far less competitive, in sharp contrast to our own proposal to acquire Yahoo. We will assess closely al of our options.”
Then he rubbed his hands together and let out a sinister laugh.
Okay, the laughing and hand rubbing can’t be confirmed but the statement about the anti-competitive nature of a Yahoo and Google alliance is all his.
