When Rob Taylor, deputy editor of Xbox World 360 magazine, was told by Rockstar that he was the first person to finish the latest Grand Theft Auto game he said it felt “pretty darn sweet to be honest.”

His review in Xbox World 360 is due out on Wednesday, April 23rd, but until then he can’t mention too many details.

Taylor can, however talk about a few general things. He calls the game tighter than the others and the narrative feels more movie-like than before. “Diving and shooting are light years ahead of Past GTAs. Overall, It’s a stratospheric lead forward, beyond anything I’d imagined.”

When asked about “woooaah, Jesus that’s amazing” moments in the game he pointed to four things overall that that are likely to entrance GTA fans like never before:

  • The city and it’s new lighting engine has to be seen to be believed
  • The dialog and characterisation is Oscar-worthy
  • The protagonist, Niko Bellic, is the most amazing in any game he’d ever played
  • The multiplayer

When asked to pick a favorite game in the GTA series, Taylor said “GTA IV. By a country mile. It craps on all the others – even the mighty Vice City – from a height equivalent to the Statue of Happiness. Believe me, GTA IV is even better than the hype suggests!”
