The long time rumor of an external Blu-ray player coming to the Xbox 360 is back again, but this time around it seems a little more possible considering the current state of HD DVD.
According to Australian tech website Smarthouse, an insider at Microsoft has told them that Microsoft is getting ready to dump HD DVD and jump on the Blu-ray bandwagon. Their source said that Microsoft already has an external Blu-ray player working in-house and that it could be shipping as early as this May.
An Xbox 360 with a built-in Blu-ray drive is said to also be in the works…hopefully they can take care of their little overheating problems too.
