New WiFi picture frame can read pictures and calendars from Internet

I’ve always been curious about LCD picture frames, but never enough to actually buy one, but the upcoming Ality Wireless PIXXA might be the one that puts me over the edge.

Its not out yet, but it scheduled to be available in the first half of 2008 and its features will include:

  • The ability to send digital photos to the display via an Instant Messanger application
  • The ability to sync photos with Flickr, Picasa and AlityOnline
  • The ability to receive live news feeds (like, for example, this excellent feed)
  • Ability to sync with Google Calendar to remind you of upcoming events
  • 8-inch LCD display supporting a resolution of 800 x 600
  • Support for 802.11 b and g wireless

This might be good for relatives that have a high speed Internet connection but don’t know how to use a computer, but want to see pictures, but don’t want to learn how to get to them (long story)…with this the pictures could be pushed to them and everybody wins.
