BlackBerry Bold release date, price leaks out

We already knew that the upcoming BlackBerry Bold (aka 9000) will be hitting AT&T first, but we weren’t sure when and for how much but thanks to a a leak we now know all.

The Bold will be hitting AT&T in July for $300, and then in September will be coming to T-Mobile for $350 and Verizon and Sprint for $300.

Not really sure at this point why it will cost more on T-Mobile than on the other three US carriers.

Asus Eee PC 901 dated

The upcoming Asus Eee PC 901, the tweaked version of the Eee PC 900 that just went on sale May 12th in the US, will be launching on June 3rd.

Does that mean that it will be available in the US and Taiwan on the 3rd? Not sure yet–could just be Taiwan initially but we’ll find out soon.

The 901, as you probably already know, will be more or less an Eee PC 900 with an Intel Atom chip instead of a Celeron. Sure, there are some other changes, but they’re pretty minor.

The official price hasn’t been released yet but its expected to be priced below $650.

Windows XP available on OLPC XO, shipping as soon as next month

olpc_windows_xpToday Microsoft and OLPC released a joint press release professing their love for one another…or something like that.

Like it or not, OLPC and Microsoft have been working on brining Windows XP to the little OLPC XO computer and things are good and official now—Windows XP will be available on the XO and will be available this August or September, but some countries may be able to get their hands on it as soon as next month.

Andrés Gonzalez Díaz, governor of Cundinamarca, Colombia, says “as I plan my region’s investment in technology, I must evaluate the best way to provide quality education and prepare my citizens for the work force…Windows support on the XO device means that our students and educators will now have access to more than computer-assisted learning experiences. They will also develop marketable technology skills, which can lead to jobs and opportunities for our youth of today and the work force of tomorrow.”

Dish Network brags about 22 new HD channels, then turns off 15 others

dish_network_logoOn Monday satellite television provider Dish Network issued press release announcing the addition of 22 new high definition channels to its lineup with Dish Network senior vice president saying “we are excited to extend our competitiveness in HD by enhancing our already comprehensive HD lineup with these 22 channels, bringing our total HD lineup to over 95 channels.”

That’s great, BUT, the very next night they turned off 15 of its Voom HD channels bringing their total to 80.

Pretty damn sneaky. They make a big deal about having nearly as many HD channels as DirecTV, then quietly turn off 15.

asus_eee_pc_901.jpg

We knew that an updated version of the Asus Eee 900 was coming that would be based on the Intel Atom chip and the first pictures of the Eee PC 901 are out.

It doesn’t look a whole lot different from the Eee PC 900 except for a few extra buttons and the power jack has been moved.

Check out a bunch more pics here if you’re interested.

Intel says Apple is working on an Atom-based tablet

iphone_atomAccording to Hannes Schwaderer, chief of Intel in Germany, Apple is developing a touchscreen device that will use Intel’s Atom processor.

Schwaderer also implied that the device may be a new iPhone model and also said that the device will be a bit larger than current iPhone’s but not because of the Intel chip, but rather because of a larger screen.

If the screen is in fact lager, I would assume that the device isn’t an iPhone but maybe a new 3G equipped tablet–the iPhone is about as large as you’d want to make a cellphone in my opinion.
